From then to now

Papa built the original dock, and it stood strong for many years. So many memories were made there. Hours of fishing off the sides, and swimming endless circles around it on the back of Playboy, a horse who loved the water. We’d put a halter on him, and he’d carry us kids around and around in the deep water. (It’s deeper than it looks out there—nearly 15 feet off the end of the dock.) But the 2024 hurricane and the weather that followed submerged the old dock one too many times. In 2025, we demolished it and built a much larger, sturdier structure in its place.

While we don’t allow swimming in the pond for liability reasons, you’re welcome to bring your own kayak or canoe to enjoy time on the water. We ask that you stick to non-motorized watercraft to keep the pond peaceful. Fishing is encouraged—just use worms or crickets rather than shiners or other live bait. We don’t currently have outdoor cooking facilities, but we’re planning to add them in the future.

This beautiful new dock is constructed in honor of Leah’s Parents, Ray and Sara Walker.
